Snowboarding is a great way to waste away your cloudy winter days. Have fun and get great exercise at the same time. Now you may ask the question of which mountain is the better one to go to. This isn’t really the question you should be asking, where you want to go is really more related to what type of features are you looking for in a mountain. Are you looking for a mountain that has long runs, or a mountain with a park that has rails, jumps, and half pipes? Or maybe you’re just starting out and you’re looking for a place to learn with some instruction. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain in Big Bear Lake, CA offer all of these things and more.

Snow Summit is the mellower of the two mountain resorts. It’s a great place for all types of boarders, offering learning courses from beginners to advance tricks. Snow Summit does have a park over on the west side of the mountain on the runs West Ridge and Ego Trip, but the majority of the resort is mountain terrain type runs. Snow Summit has an awesome food court and bar area, but the food and drink is a little pricey. I suggest bringing your own lunch from home and purchasing a locker. The locker is only a dollar every time it’s opened. Last but not least NEVER leave your gear unattended there is a free board and basket check at both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain resorts.
