We love this time of year in the mountains. Big Bear Lake has great winter outdoor activities; snowboarding, skiing, tubing and horseback riding, to name a few.
With a good base of snow, night sessions at Snow Summit will continue through March 8th.
Not a Skier or Boarder? How about trying the Alpine Slide near the Village? There’s tubing and luge riding. The Alpine Slide also has night sessions every Friday and Saturday through March. Evening tickets are $20.
We’ve enjoyed a mild winter this year. Many of our days have been sunny and in the low 50’s. We’ve been able to get out and hike the Valley. Most of the trails in the east valley are free of snow. Some of the trails like Castle Rock, west of the Village, are still a bit icy.
Looking for a gentle walk? Try the trail on the north shore of the lake, the Alpine Pedal Path. Turn on Stanfield Cutoff and park near the school. There is a well marked and very easy trail that heads west along the shoreline. It’s a great trail for dog walking!
